2015 – Meeting of Eastern Catholic bishops

Meeting of Eastern Catholic Bishops

Meeting of the Eastern Catholic Bishops in Europe

Prague, Czech Republic, 4-7 June 2015

The meeting is organised annually by one of the Eastern Churches present in Europe. Since 2009, CCEE has given its support to this meeting of Eastern Catholic Bishops. This year the meeting will take place in the Czech Republic at the invitation of His Lordship Mgr Ladislav Hučko, Apostolic Exarch for Byzantine Rite Catholics in the country. Within the Catholic Church, there exist particular Churches, called sui iuris Churches or Rites, in full communion with the Church of Rome but which are distinguished from the Latin Catholic Church by different forms of liturgical worship and popular piety, sacramental (administration of the sacraments) and canonical (legal norms) discipline, terminology and theological traditions. In Europe there are Bishops of the Greek-Catholic, Maronite, Chaldean and Armenian Churches.
