The Conference of Catholic Bishops in Ukraine (Latin Rite)

The Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops in Ukraine was established on February 28, 1992. It meets 2 times a year. It includes 1 archdiocese (metropolitan) and 6 sufragan dioceses. Currently active: 1 metropolitan archbishop, 5 bishops-ordinaries of dioceses and 5 auxiliary bishops (retired bishops: 1 cardinal, 4 bishops).

The president and vice president of the conference are elected for 5-year terms with the possibility of re-election for the same term. The conference secretary is elected for 5 years, but with no limit to be re-elected. The secretary may be a bishop or a priest.

The executive of the Conference is called the "Presidium" and consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Press Secretary.

There are 11 commissions: Doctrine of Faith, Church-State Relations, Justice and Peace, Faith Education, Clergy and Vocations, Laity, Liturgy, Family, Mass Media, Consecrated Life, Caritas-Spes, Sacred Art, Environment and Tourism , Youth Ministry.

Largest dioceses: Kharkivsko-Zaporizhia diocese (196,300 km2) and Odesko-Simferopol diocese (138,000 km2). Smallest: Mukachiv diocese (12,777 km2) and Lutsk diocese (40,300 km2).

Founded the first dioceses: diocese of Lutsk (1361), archdiocese of Lviv (1375), diocese of Kamianets-Podilski (ca. 1379), diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr (1404).

Newly established dioceses: diocese of Mukachiv (2002), diocese of Odessa-Simferopol (2002), diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia (2002).
