Meeting of the Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of South-East Europe
Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of South-east Europe
Bucharest, Romania, 17-21 April 2015
Participating are the Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, the Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus and President of the International Bishops’ Conference of Saints Cyril and Methodius (Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro). The Catholic Church in all these countries shares in common the fact of being a minority church in their own country. For a long time many of them had to endure the repressive activity of totalitarian regimes. Therefore they are countries whose Churches share many pastoral issues linked to the rapid increasing secularisation of their faithful and certain legal and administrative issues.
